Thanksgiving Blessings

Well, I'm here at the hospital putting in a night shift in the operating room (it's my holiday rotation). Luckily, we've had no emergency surgeries so far tonight. Anyway, I was trying to find a way to keep myself awake (since I'm not a night owl) and decided to check out the latest updates on this blog. As I view the pictures and videos that Joe has posted, I can't help but feel thankful for all we have here in the U.S. As I looked at the picture of the little girl sitting in the street, I felt a sense of sadness for her, and yet, at the same time, it makes me thankful that my children are all safe with a roof over their heads. Numerous people have asked me why I want to go to Haiti, and sometimes I find my reasons hard to put into words. But I guess one of the reasons is because I feel so blessed in my life that I want to do all I can to share those blessings with others, even if it means doing something as simple as picking up a little girl out of the street and giving her a hug.
I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving, and don't forget to count your blessings. See you in a couple of weeks.
Pam
